Learning & Development: Enhancements

Description

When children participate in developmentally appropriate play, they learn and experience new thoughts and ideas, even though they may not be able to fully understand the concept yet (Masterson & Bohart, 2019). According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NAEYC & NCTM, 2012), when enhancements are added to curriculum, they provide another layer of learning that “contribute[s] to [a child’s] knowledge and abilities that they will rely on when solving problems in the future” (as cited in Masterson & Bohart, 2019). Throughout this course, we will dive into what enhancements are and how you can successfully incorporate them into your curriculum.
